Dr. Donatus Bapentire Angnuureng is a distinguished environmental physicist and coastal scientist, committed to advancing sustainable solutions for coastal resilience in Africa and beyond. He is currently a Research Fellow and Team Lead for Coastal Geomorphology and Engineering at the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR).

Dr. Angnuureng earned his BSc (Hons) in Physics from the University of Cape Coast in 2009, MSc in Physical Oceanography from the University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin, in 2011, and PhD in Environmental Physics from the University of Bordeaux, France, in 2016. He is also a proud 2017 National Geographic Explorer and an active member of the Ghana Science Association and the Coastal Education and Research Foundation (CERF).

With over a decade of academic and research experience, Dr. Angnuureng has made remarkable contributions to the understanding of coastal dynamics, especially in meso-macrotidal environments. His research explores the effects of sea-level anomalies, wave behavior, and storm events on beach erosion and recovery. He is especially known for his application of cutting-edge technologies such as photogrammetry, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), and remote sensing to track shoreline changes, sediment transport, and pollution from both natural and anthropogenic sources.

Dr. Angnuureng has authored over 40 scientific publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, and policy-relevant reports. His work has been cited in key international journals and has informed strategies on coastal management, including studies on the Akosombo Dam spillage and erosion hotspots in Ghana. He serves as a reviewer for leading journals such as Coastal Research, Computers & Geosciences, and Advances in Space Research.

His contributions have been recognized through research grants and sponsorships from organizations such as the National Geographic Society, TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences), and the French Embassy in Ghana. His H-index reflects his growing impact in the scientific community, and his work continues to shape the discourse on coastal adaptation and resilience in the face of climate change.

Beyond research, Dr. Angnuureng is a passionate mentor and capacity builder, actively involved in the training and supervision of graduate students from across Africa. He is known for his reliability, innovation, and leadership in multi-disciplinary projects that bridge science, policy, and community engagement.
