Ms. Selorm Awiah Dzantor earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences (Geography and Sociology) in 2014 and an MPhil in Geography in 2017, both from the University of Cape Coast (UCC). She has expertise in qualitative research and analysis, digital data collection and management, as well as proficiency in ArcGIS and map development.


Her principal research interests center on vulnerability and livelihood studies. Her MPhil thesis, Assessment of Vulnerability and Coping Livelihood Strategies of Fishermen in Selected Fishing Communities in the Central Region of Ghana, reflects this focus. Beyond this, she maintains strong academic and professional interests in environmental conservation, coastalgeomorphology, climate change, land-use patterns, and sustainable development.

Currently, she serves as a Research Assistant at the Africa Center of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), UCC, where she also chairs the Welfare Committee. She is pursuing a PhD in Geography and Regional Planning at UCC, with her doctoral research examining Socio-Ecological Factors Influencing Mangrove Conservation Initiatives: Insights from the Ahanta West District, Ghana.

At ACECoR, she has played a significant role in grant proposal development and research, contributing to projects on solid waste management strategies, fisheries governance assessments, and livelihood and vulnerability analyses. She also coauthored a consultancy for the African Union–InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AUIBAR), which explored mechanisms to facilitate the domestication of global environmental instruments among AU member states. Her skills span scientific writing, data analysis, digital content creation, and stakeholder engagement.

Selorm is an active member of several networks, including the InterACE Thematic Network on Marine Litter (MALNET), V2V Global Partners, and the Coastal Marine Conservation Drive Project (COMADRIP). She also participates in the SPSAS Transdisciplinarity network in Brazil.In addition to her academic and professional commitments, she previously served as the Local NUGS Women’s Commissioner of the University of Cape Coast’s National Union of Ghana Students Chapter. She has six peerreviewed publications to her credit and enjoys outdoor activities such as jogging, basketball, mountain climbing, and yoga.
