Born 8th March 1993 in a typical rural village in Malawi, Jeremiah Samson Kapatu is the last born in a family of six children. He successfully completed his bachelor's degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries science from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources in 2018.

He has a strong passion for conservation management of fisheries resource and envisions himself as one of upcoming key players in fish biodiversity management. After he successfully completed inland fish biodiversity studies during his undergraduate years. He always wished to increase his knowledge in coastal related areas.

That dream has finally come true courtesy of a scholarship grant offered by Africa Center of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR) and he has been enrolled into a two year graduate programme to pursue Mphil. In Fisheries Science at Center for Coastal Management, University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He strongly believes the scholarship will give him an opportunity to do an in-depth studies into the ecosystem and biodiversity management of fisheries sector along the coastal areas.

Going by his family's background, he never thought a day would come when he'll fly abroad to pursue graduate studies and he is therefore very grateful to ACECoR team for this rare diamond scholarship award and he looks forward to more cooperation with the team.
