This course seeks to:
- explain how comparative costs determine the pattern of international trade;
- analyze international value chains and marine trade;
- examine the effects of global developments on marine trade; and
- assess the efficiency of marine transport systems.
Content
The course will cover the theoretical foundations of international trade which will include comparative costs and international trade, intra-industry trade, international value chains, trade policy, trade finance. global developments and sustainable trade.
Types of marine trade, structure of marine trade, pattern of marine trade, transport costs and marine trade, Logistics and marine trade, and sustainable and resilient marine trade. Marine transport services which will cover structure, ownership, registration of world fleets, marine transport efficiency, demand and supply of shipping, sustainable and resilient marine transport, marine transport and climate change, emerging trends affecting international shipping, and Legal and regulatory developments in marine transport.
Infrastructure supply which will cover Ports development, multimodal transport network development, Logistics, and private sector participation in ports.
