Research Assistant
Richmond Korang is an environmental researcher, project coordinator, and scientific communicator with expertise in Ocean and Carbon Accounting, Ecosystem and Biodiversity Conservation, Climate Change and Resilience, and Scientific Communication. He holds a Master of Arts in Environmental Management and Policy and a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. His work is driven by a commitment to advancing sustainability, environmental governance, and coastal resilience.
As a Research Assistant and an enthusiast in Communication at the Centre for Coastal Management—World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience—Richmond has contributed to high-impact research, policy development, and digital outreach. He has played a pivotal role in grant proposal development, ocean and carbon data analysis, and scientific communication. His ability to translate complex environmental concepts into actionable insights has made him a key figure in research and advocacy efforts.
Richmond has assisted multiple projects, including serving on the Coastal and Marine Conservation Drive Project (COMADRIP), where he spearheaded community sensitization efforts on marine protected areas (MPAs) and conducted ecosystem-based research. His work has directly contributed to policy discussions on climate resilience and coastal sustainability at both national and international levels. Beyond research, Richmond has been actively involved in environmental governance and policy advocacy.
As a United Nations Volunteer (UNV), he has contributed to research on solid waste management strategies. Additionally, he co-authored a consultancy for the African Union- InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), focusing on mechanisms to facilitate the domestication of global environmental instruments among AU member states. With strong skills in scientific writing, data analysis, digital content creation, and stakeholder engagement.
Richmond effectively bridges the gap between scientific research and policy implementation. His expertise in scientific communication has enabled him to manage digital platforms, create awareness materials, lead public engagement initiatives, and Organise events such as the 43rd International Sea Turtle Society Symposium.
