Ivy S. G. Akuoko is a passionate environmentalist, a versatile and resourceful person with much interest in issues on the human-society/environment relationship and ways of ensuring sustainability using modern technologies. She attended the University of Cape Coast and The University of Rhode Island where she gained her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences (2014) and Master of Arts in Marine Affairs (2018) respectively. She has received training on the Circular Economy and Behaviour Change from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the Center for Behavior and the Environment (Rare) respectively. She has research interests in Waste Management, Circular Economy, Pro-environmental Behaviour/Behavioural Change, Environmental Health, GIS and Remote Sensing.
For the past years, her research has focused on plastic waste and marine litter where she has worked in Ghana and Liberia in collaboration with Conservation International and University of Washington. In addition to this, she is currently working on how to achieve food waste reduction using behavioural change. "
