MPhil Blue Economy, Governance and Social Resilience

2023/2024 Academic Year

Linda Ekua Taylor is an emerging Blue Economist from Ghana, West Africa, with a zeal for driving impactful initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, circular economy, and climate action, particularly with a focus on empowering women and youth. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences, majoring in Economics with a minor in Sociology, from the University of Cape Coast.

After completing her undergraduate studies, she undertook her national service with the Student Representative Council (SRC) Hall of the University of Cape Coast. During this period, she supported residents by assisting with adjustment challenges, encouraged social bonding to foster a conducive learning environment, and collaborated with floor committees and student groups to organize activities promoting integration between local and non-local students.

She is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Blue Economy, Governance, and Social Resilience at the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), University of Cape Coast, as a World Bank ACECoR Scholar. Her research focuses on the gender dimensions of the circular economy and household welfare in coastal communities in Ghana.

Motivated by the urgent need to address coastal vulnerabilities, declining fish stocks, and gender inequities in livelihood opportunities, Linda is committed to contributing to evidence-based policy formulation and sustainable ocean governance across Ghana and the West African sub-region. She aspires to bridge disciplinary insights from economics, sociology, and marine science to support integrated and gender-sensitive approaches to managing coastal and marine resources.
