Seedy Barrow, is a young environmentalist from the Gambia, West Africa, with a Higher Diploma in Public and Environmental Health from the Gambia College, School of Public Health and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of the Gambia, respectively.
He has been working with the National Environment Agency (NEA) of the Gambia for over 7 years as an Environmental Inspector and a Programme Officer at the Environment Quality programme at NEA. His role includes enforcement of environmental laws and formulation of policies geared toward sound environmental management. Specifically, Mr. Barrow has intensively participated in development of Asbestos Management Guidelines of The Gambia. He has extensively participated in high level professional trainings and conferences such as a month-long internship with Iroko Consult at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana; the Conference on Coastal and Marine Environment, Accra 2023; International Blue Economy Conference, Banjul 2025 among many others.
He is currently enrolled on the Master of Philosophy programme in Blue Economy, Governance, and Social Resilience at the World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience, University of Cape Coast to enhance his research skills and expertise in areas of environmental protection and sustainability relating to coastal and marine ecosystems. This is in line with his interest and ambition of taking roles and developing cotton-age solutions to the global emerging environmental issues.
