University of Cape Coast
TheCentre for Coastal Management - Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (CCM-ACECoR) at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), successfully organized a three day intensive Numerical Modelling Workshop facilitated by three visiting professors from Hohai University, China.
The training brought together coastal scientists, researchers, faculty, and students to build advanced capacity in coastal and ocean modelling.
Prof. Mattah, Acting Director of CC in his opening remarks, highlighted the importance of building strong regional capacity to tackle the increasing challenges along Ghana’s coastline. He encouraged participants to take the skills gained and support informed policy, coastal planning, and community resilience. And that the workshop reflects ACECoR’s continued commitment to developing the next generation of coastal professionals while strengthening international collaboration.
The workshop covered key thematic areas including ocean surface waves, hydrodynamics and salt transport, coastal flooding, beach evolution, and sediment transport, and Participants engaged in hands on modelling exercises and practical demonstrations, equipping them with tools for shoreline analysis, forecasting, and decision support in coastal management.
A big thank you to our partners from Hohai University, our hardworking facilitators, and all participants for making these three days impactful!
