Centre for Coastal Management - Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (CCM-ACECoR, University of Cape Coast) in Ghana joined the FEC IPOs in June 2021

ACECoR is represented by the Director, Prof. Denis W. Aheto and Mr Saviour Komla Sobia Deikumah an Administrator at the Centre. Mr. Deikumah attends the monthly FEC IPOs Calls, which are regular virtual meetings held to update members on the FEC activities.

Group highlights

Future Earth Coasts (FEC) is an interdisciplinary program combining biophysical models with studies of ecosystems, governance, and human behavior to map pathways for sustainable development in coastal zones. At the end of 2021, Virginia Tech officially signed out from the FEC IPOs. Leibniz Zentrum für Marine Tropenforschung (ZMT) stepped down as FEC Lead IPO and was replaced by Southern Cross University (SCU) and State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research (SKLEC, East China Normal University) & Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research (YIC, Chinese Academy of Sciences). Centre for Coastal Management - Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (CCM-ACECoR, University of Cape Coast) in Ghana and Instituto Argentino de Oceanografía (IADO-CONICET-UNS) in Argentina officially signed in the FEC IPOs. In June 2021, the Mega-Delta Working Group led by FEC has been successfully endorsed as part of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. In October 2021, FEC contributed to the 7th International Conference on Estuaries and Coasts as a sponsor held in Shanghai, China.
