The French Institute of Research for Development (IRD) has awarded Emmanuel Brempong a partial grant to support his PhD program. The partial scholarship is providing funding for his PhD training objectives which include the use of Pleiades Satellite Stereo-imagery and Sentinel data analysis purposely for understanding the Volta Delta evolution. With this scholarship Emmanuel would build strong capabilities in the use of computer programming to assess the morphodynamics including bathymetry, subsidence and sediment transport of the Volta Delta using Space-Borne Remote Sensing. As part of the grant, Emmanuel will visit the Laboratory for the Studies in Geophysics and Space Oceanography (LEGOS) in France for six months of each year of his PhD program. The essence is to enable him have access to commercial remote sensing data, a laboratory space and high specification computers to support the extraction of bathymetry and topography and the analysis of the data.
