The Centre for Coastal Management (CCM) at the University of Cape Coast is an applied research and development-oriented with footprints across the globe. The Centre is a multidisciplinary think tank institution working in close committed partnerships with several funded programmes, one of which is the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), under the ACE Impact project by the World Bank through the Association of African Universities. 

In furtherance of its intention to deliver its mandate, the ACECoR project is seeking a young, knowledgeable, hardworking, and dedicated individual willing and able to join our dynamic team of experts as an Information Technology (IT) Officer.

The above professional would be responsible for maintaining computer systems and other related technologies at ACECoR. The ideal candidate must have in-depth knowledge of computer software, hardware and a hands-on experience with different variety of Internet applications, networks and operating systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Install, configure and manage software/hardware and their functions according to specifications
• Provides assistance to staff of the center, by solving technical issues and helping them to use computers and software effectively
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on IT equipment and other associated peripherals
• Configure, monitor and maintain computer networks to ensure stable and secure connectivity
• Implement security measures to protect systems and data against threats such as viruses, malware and cyber attacks
• Participate in the planning, implementation and management of IT projects, such as introduction of new systems or migration to new technologies
• Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in technology to recommend appropriate improvements and upgrades
• Assist in and plan training, development and education for new software and hardware
• Troubleshoot to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
• Maintain software and hardware inventory
• Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders when necessary
• Monitor web performance, network availability and security
• Set up equipment for new users

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, MIS or related field in science
• In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software and networks
• Knowledge of database maintenance and system security
• Knowledge of operating systems, web services and API
• Ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware issues
• Excellent communication skills
• Critical thinker
• Good interpersonal skills
• Any professional IT certification is an added advantage
