CCM-ACECoR Signs MOA With Infrastructure Development Institute- Japan (IDI)
A memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed between the Centre for Coastal Management (CCM)- Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR) at University of Cape Coast (UCC), and the Infrastructure Development Institute- Japan (IDI) under the auspices of the West Africa Coastal Area Program (WACA)on Monday, May 9, 2022.
IDI which was established in 1956 contributes to international social development and improvement of sustainable living conditions for people all over the world by participating in projects that promote international mutual understanding in the construction industry and economic and technical progress in developing countries, particularly with cooperation for the development, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure.
The Centre for Coastal Management which was established in 2013 by the University of Cape Coast and institutionalized by the world bank as an Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR) in 2019, is a regional Centre of excellence in coastal resilience focused on demand-driven research, sustainable coastal resource management, training, and development of young scientist through the collaboration with industry, private and public institutions.

This MoA will leverage on the expertise of both the Japanese IDI and ACECoR to provide West African countries with technical expertise and solutions to coastal degradation, by supporting capacity building in West Africa over the medium to long term with knowledge exchange, dialogue, joint research and studies, partnerships, and dialogue mechanisms.
The MOA was signed on behalf of CCM and ACECoR by the Director (Denis Worlanyo Aheto), and on behalf of IDI by the President (Katsuji Hashiba), witnessed by members from World Bank and WACA (Sajid Anwar), IUCN (Thomas Price), and team members of both ACECoR and IDI institu
