The African Union – Inter African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) has appointed Dr. Isaac Okyere as a member of the African Fisheries Reform Mechanism (AFRM) working group, a group of experts drawn from AU member states to work in addressing the numerous challenges facing Africa’s fisheries sector, cutting across small scale fisheries, aquaculture, trade, policy, governance, and institutional strengthening. Dr. Okyere joins the group as a representative fisheries science and expert from the African Union recognized Centre of Excellence (CoE), the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, University of Cape Coast, and has been adopted into the working group in an inaugural meeting held from March 7-8, 2022 at Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. We congratulate Dr. Okyere for this continental high-level appointment.
