A team from World Bank's Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR) is currently participating in a workshop at Institut National Polytechnique- Houphouet-Boigny (INP-HB) Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire. The workshop which is being run from 20th- 24th June 2023, provides an avenue to explore alternatives for the sustainability of the Marine Litter Network (MALNET) beyond its funding window. The MALNET team led by the Project Coordinator, Ms. Esinam Attipoe discussed a number of topics in different sessions that also included panel discussions focused on identifying challenges, policy needs as well as best practices to deal with the menace of marine plastics within the sub-region. Additional discussions focused on strategies to strengthen the network - drawing on strategic financing, training, and capacity development through regional exchange arrangements for training postgraduate (master's) students. 

Participating Africa Centres of Excellence (ACE) in the network include Centre d’Excellence Africain en Valorisation Des Déchets en Produits à Haute Valeur Ajoutée (VALOPRO),Institut National Polytechnique- Houphouet-Boigny (INP-HB), Côte d'Ivoire, Institut de Recherches Halieutiques et Océanologiques du Bénin (IRHOB, Benin), Centre d'Etudes, de Formation et de Recherche en Gestion des Risques Sociaux (CEFORGRIS), Université de Ouaga I, Burkina Faso.
