ACECoR and CESED Successfully Organize Entrepreneurship Course

The much anticipated Entrepreneurship curriculum for ACECoR was unveiled and used in a two-week
entrepreneurship course. The two-week course was organized through a collaboration of the Africa
Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR) and Centre for Entrepreneurship and Small
Enterprise Development (CESED) from 22nd August to 3rd September 2022, for alumni and current
students studying under (ACECoR), who were competitively selected.
Participants were taken through problem identification and converting solutions to viable businesses,
business plan development, various business types and many more. They also had the opportunity to
come up with their business proposals which shall be considered for incubation and subsequent
acceleration.
The two-week course also saw the participants being introduced to intellectual property and patenting
and how to go about patenting their brands, products and services. Professionals from various
regulatory institutions such as Ghana Revenue Authority, Environmental Protection Agency as well as
Food and Drugs Authority of Ghana were given the opportunity to speak to the participants on their
roles in running successful business and how their services could be sought and used in the future for
their upcoming businesses.

Participants enjoyed the course and all that was heard from them about the course was that it was "power-
packed". They were very excited and honored to be a part of the selected few to partake in the course.
Some of the students also mentioned they were beginning to see entrepreneurship and
business ownership through different lenses and were happy to hear from the professionals themselves.
There was a short graduation ceremony held on the 3rd September with the ACECoR Director giving the
keynote address. He was impressed with the organization of the course held beginning from the
development of the curriculum until its execution. He was also happy with the dedication of
participants in following through to the end of the training and also mentioned how privileged they
were to add entrepreneurship to their skillset, given that they did not have to depend on institutions for
jobs after their studies but can create their own jobs instead if they wished. Certificates were also
presented to the students as the highlight of the ceremony.
The entire ACECoR and CESED team is anxiously anticipating incubation of business ideas emanating
from this training as well as future cohorts and the outcomes.
