Online Workshop on Integrated Sediment Management in WACA Countries-A Knowledge Exchange with WACA Japan Knowledge Network.

The online workshop on Integrated Sediment Management in WACA Countries is an event being organized by The World Bank (WB), Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), The West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) and Infrastructure Development Institute – Japan (IDI). This event is scheduled for May 26, 2022, 9:00-11:30 am (UTC) with provision being made for English/French simultaneous interpretation.

The online event is targeted at hosting Government organizations, knowledge institutes, river basin organizations, and facility administrators in WACA countries and Japan, and has the following objectives;

• Fostering awareness of integrated sediment management among relevant organizations in WACA countries
• Sharing status and best practices on sediment management from WACA countries and Japan
• Identifying interests and key priorities of relevant organizations in West Africa to manage sediment in river basins and coastal areas
• Promoting partnerships and establishing a network (focal points) among organizations in WACA countries and Japan
