Winter School 2025: Computational Modeling in Marine Ecology, Fisheries and Climate Science
Calling all marine enthusiasts!
Join us for the 2025 Winter School in Cape Coast, Ghana, from January 27 to 31, 2025! This immersive program will be held at the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), University of Cape Coast, and is designed for enthusiastic MSc and PhD students eager to delve into the world of computational modeling in marine ecology, fisheries, and climate.
Throughout the week, participants will explore a variety of ecological problems using state-of-the-art modeling methods, including differential equation-based and agent-based modeling, all while utilizing the programming language - Python. Key topics will include population growth, predator-prey interactions, plankton dynamics, fishery management, and the impacts of climate change and the greenhouse effect. No advanced knowledge in mathematical or numerical disciplines is required, which makes this an inclusive opportunity for all students interested in computational modeling and marine ecology. The Winter School will not only promote academic growth but will also encourage cultural exchange among students from diverse backgrounds, fostering ethical and legal values in ocean governance for the sustainable and peaceful use of marine resources.
