Following the appointment of Professor Denis Worlanyo Aheto as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, the University has named Professor Precious Agbeko Mattah as the Acting Director of the Centre for Coastal Management – Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (CCM-ACECoR).

Professor Mattah, a distinguished environmental and coastal scientist as well as a long-serving member of the CCM-ACECoR leadership team, as deputy director, brings extensive experience in research, capacity building, and project coordination to his new role. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to advancing the Centre’s mandate of promoting sustainable coastal and marine resource management across Ghana and West Africa.

His appointment ensures strong continuity in CCM-ACECoR’s vision of excellence, innovation, and regional impact. Professor Mattah’s leadership is expected to build on the solid foundation laid by Professor Aheto, strengthening collaborations, driving impactful research, and mentoring the next generation of coastal scientists.

The staff, students and faculty of CCM-ACECoR, together with the University community warmly congratulates Professor Mattah on his new role and look forward to his continued contribution to CCM-ACECoR’s growth and to the University’s broader commitment to research and sustainable development.
