The Centre for Coastal Management (CCM) at the University of Cape Coast is an applied research and development-oriented with footprints across the globe. The Centre is a multidisciplinary think tank institution working in close committed partnerships with several funded programmes, one of which is the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), under the ACE Impact project by the World Bank through the Association of African Universities. 

In furtherance of its intention to deliver its mandate, the ACECoR project is seeking a young, knowledgeable, hardworking, and dedicated individual willing and able to join our dynamic team of experts as an ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT


 The Accounting Assistant will provide financial support to the Project Accountant in ensuring the accurate and timely financial management of the project. This role will involve a variety of tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
 1. Data Entry: Accurately input financial transactions into the accounting system, including invoices, payments, and journal entries.
 2. Reconciliations: Prepare and reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts.
 3. Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, such as monthly and quarterly statements.
 4. Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payment.
 5. Accounts Receivable: Follow up on outstanding invoices and collect payments.
 6. General Ledger: Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of account balances.
 7. Ad-hoc tasks: Assist with other accounting tasks as needed.

Qualifications
 -Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
 -1-2 years of experience in accounting
 - Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Topaz, etc)
 -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
 - Attention to detail and accuracy
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
 - Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Skills (Preferred)
 - Experience with project accounting
 - Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

Work Environment 
The Accounting Assistant will work in a professional office environment, primarily using a computer. There may be occasional overtime required to meet deadlines.
