I am Blessing Ebi Ogonodi from Nigeria. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Aquatic Studies from the Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State. I also have a Master’s of Science degree in Environmental Management from the Pan African University Institute of Life and Earth Sciences, University of Ibadan. I have worked in the Fisheries sector of my country for more than three years as a Program Assistant in the Office of the Special Adviser on Aquaculture and Fisheries to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
I am studying for the MPhil degree in Oceanography and Limnology. Marine biodiversity is being threatened due to Overexploitation, Global warming-induced Climate Change, plastic pollution, Oil spills, dumping of toxic waste including others. This degree will give me the knowledge I need to learn more about the ocean and lakes especially in Africa and how they can be conserved for sustainable development.
Obtaining this MPhil degree will help me achieve my goal to work in the Marine Biodiversity Conservation sector in International development. My expectations from this program are to learn more about my field of study and carry out top notch research that will aid in the preservation of our coastal ecosystems.
