The government of Liberia through the Department of Fisheries & Aquaculture Sciences (DoFAS) at the University of Liberia (UL) has received support from the World Bank Group towards the preparation and implementation of the “Liberia Sustainable Management of Fisheries Project (LSMFP)”, and has awarded a consultancy service to the Centre for Coastal Management- Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (CCM-ACECoR), for the development of  DoFAS courses syllabi at the University of Liberia.

To this regard, CCM-ACECoR has been charged to develop detailed courses syllabi for thirty-two (32) fisheries and aquaculture courses in DOFAS’s approved undergraduate fisheries and aquaculture science curriculum, support the roll-out of the programme and provide a list of fisheries and aquaculture experts that DoFAS may hire or contract on a part-time basis.

The consultancy commenced on the 5th of June and is expected to last 5 weeks. Work is already in progress with invited experts, ranging from academia to industry, on board to advise and contribute to the success of this very important assignment.

As a World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience, the Centre is open to assisting, guiding and working with both academic institutions and industries as a contribution of its quota to global coastal resilience through applied research, outreach and capacity building.
