This module will cover the organization of the fishing industry in Ghana, with emphasis on the characteristics of inland, coastal and marine fisheries. It will provide an overview of the Fisheries Law and Fisheries Management Plan of Ghana in comparison with those of other countries. The roles of the sector ministry and allied organizations in fisheries development and management will be discussed. Gender issues in the fishery, fish storage and marketing will also be examined.
