Dr. Isaac Kofi Osei is a research scientist who is passionate about addressing fisheries-related and coastal degradation issues as well as developing and managing fisheries resources through demand-driven research, advocacy, and training/teaching to the realisation of improved food security, livelihoods, and employment.

He studied at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana, where he graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences in 2011, an M.Phil. in Fisheries Science in 2015, and a Ph.D. in Fisheries Science in 2020. He was awarded the prestigious Dean’s Excellence Award for his Ph.D. degree at the 53rd Congregation of the University of Cape Coast in 2020, under the supervision of the late Emeritus Prof. Kobina Yankson. He was also awarded a scholarship financed by the USAID/UCC Fisheries and Coastal Management Capacity Building Support Project for his PhD study in 2017. Moreover, he won a grant to pursue his M.Phil. research funded by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (DFAS), UCC, in 2013.

Dr. Osei is currently a postdoctoral fellow with the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience and Centre for Coastal Management (CCM), UCC, under the directorship of Prof. D. W. Aheto. He is specialised in Fish Stock Assessment, Socioeconomic Assessment of Fisheries, Fisheries Management, Fisheries Biology and Ecology (Finfish & Bivalve Molluscs), and Culture of Oysters, as well as an interest in Ecological Modelling and Fisheries Governance.

Dr. Isaac Kofi Osei has published several scientific articles in refereed journals, including Fisheries Research, Frontiers in Marine Science, and Aquaculture International. Some of his co-authors are Prof. K. Yankson, Prof. J. Blay, Prof. E. A. Obodai, and Prof. D. W. Aheto.

Moreover, he has consulted on several regional and local projects by some esteemed development partners, including USAID, AU-IBAR, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, and the United States Embassy. He also consults with the Ghana National Teaching Council (GNTC) as a Fisheries Science Expert.
