MPhil Blue Economy, Governance and Social Resilience

2022/2023 Academic Year

I am Ama Kwartemaa Agyei Frimpong, a graduate in Biochemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, and currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy degree in Blue economy, Governance, and Social resilience under the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience project (ACECoR) at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

I am passionate about food security and the exploration of bioactive compounds derived from biomass in ocean and land waters for their health, nutritional, and economic benefits.

I believe that Africa and the world can immensely benefit from the immeasurable benefits of the "blue economy" if multi- and trans-disciplinary approaches are adopted to gain a clearer understanding of the concept and to develop and deploy relevant tools and technologies for sustainable exploitation of blue economy resources. My motivation for taking part in this course is the opportunity that the course offers me to develop the requisite technical know-how and sharpen my research skills while contributing ideas and knowledge sharing towards achieving the sustainable development goals pertaining to the blue economy.
