Dr. Precious Agbeko D., Mattah holds a B. A. (Hons) degree in Geography and Resource Development from the University of Ghana, Legon in 1996. He also obtained MPhil and PhD degrees in Environmental Science from the same university in 2006 and 2015 respectively. He received a sponsored training in Tool-Kits for the Sustainable Management of Riverine Biodiversity from the Centre for African Wetlands in the University of Ghana, Legon in 2016. In 2007, Dr. Mattah was among twelve (12) young scholars selected worldwide to undergo a certificate course in Advanced Techniques in Anopheles mosquito culture from Centers of Disease Control (CDC) Atlanta, GA, USA. He was also selected among fifteen scholars to undergo a training in Spatial Ecotoxicology & Ecotoxicological Risk Assessment held in the University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany in 2014. Dr. Mattah is a Research Fellow with the Centre for Coastal Management (CCM) and currently the Deputy Director of the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR). Prior to his appointment, he was the Head of the Academic Planning Section of the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance in UCC. He has worked at various organisations such as Dodowa Health Research Centre and Ghana Statistical Service mainly as a Research Officer. He served as an intern in the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). Dr. Mattah has interest in pesticides and their effects on environment and health of people, livelihoods, ecology and management of coastal natural resources, as well as water and environmental sanitation. He has researched into vectors of health importance such as Anopheles mosquitoes in urban areas. He has expertise in clustering of demographic events over space and geographic information system. Dr. Mattah has supervised five Master’s students so far and has published over 10 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as a book chapter to his credit. He enjoys reading motivational books.
