Ms. Selorm Awiah Dzantor

Ms. Selorm Awiah Dzantor holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences (Geography and Sociology) and an MPhil in Geography from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in 2014 and 2017 respectively. She has expertise in qualitative research and analysis, digital data collection and management, Arc GIS and Map development.


Her principal research area touched on vulnerability and livelihood studies. As such, her MPhil thesis focused on the ‘Assessing The Value of Traditional ‘Protected’ Mangrove Resources; Insights from The Ahanta West District, Ghana’. Also, she has interests in Environmental Conservation, Coastal Geomorphology, Climate Change, Land-use Patterns, as well as Sustainable Development. 


She is currently a Research Assistant at the Africa Center of Excellence in Coastal Resilience, UCC, the current chairperson for the welfare Committee of the Centre and a PhD Candidate at the University of Cape Coast - Geography and Regional Planning Department, researching on “Assessing The Value of Traditional ‘Protected’ Mangrove Resources; Insights from The Greater Cape Three Points Area, Ghana”.


Selorm is a core member of the Inter-ACE Thematic Network on Marine Litter (MALNET), V2V global partners, and Coastal Marine Conservation Drive Project (COMADRIP) at the Centre. She is also part of a network of transdisciplinary researchers (SPSAS Transdisciplinarity). She held the position of Local NUGS Women’s Commissioner of the University of Cape Coast’s National Union of Ghana Students Chapter. Selorm has six (6) peer-reviewed articles to her credit and enjoys outdoor activities such as jogging, playing basketball, mountain climbing and yoga.
