Dr. Pèlèbè Edéya Orobiyi Rodrigue is a postdoctoral fellow in Fisheries Science at the Centre for Coastal Management (Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience), University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He has been a valedictorian for his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Production from the University of Parakou in Benin (2012-2013) and his Master's degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries Management from the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin (2015-2016). He holds not only a PhD in Fisheries and Aquaculture from the University of Parakou and also a PhD in Hydrobiology from the Félix HOUPHOUET-BOIGHY University of Côte d’Ivoire (2018-2019). Since 2020, he fulfilled his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management of Organizations at the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences of the University of Parakou. He was a part-time teacher in Fisheries and Aquaculture at the Technical Agricultural High School of KIKA, Benin. Dr. Pèlèbè is a member of the research and teaching team of the Research Laboratory in Aquaculture and Aquatic Ecotoxicology (LaRAEAq), Faculty of Agronomy, University of Parakou. He has participated in several trainings and courses for building and improving his capacities. His current domains of interest are (1) aquaculture/aquaponics, fishing and fishery products quality and (2) aquatic ecotoxicology, molecular identification and population genetics of fishes, and sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems and their biodiversity. However, Dr. Pèlèbè is also interested in works related to climate change and sustainable adaptation strategies of fishers and fish farmers. He has participated in the implementation of several national and regional research-development projects at LaRAEAq. Currently, Dr. Pèlèbè co-authored 27 publications in both national and international peer-reviewed journals, published 01 technical document related to fish farming in northern Benin water reservoirs, is a reviewer for several international scientific journals, and has given more than 30 scientific communications (oral or poster) at both national and international conferences. He won several grants and scholarships from well-known international organizations such as, Belgian National Focal Point to the Global Taxonomy Initiative, African-German Network for Excellence in Science, International Foundation for Science, West African Economic and Monetary Union, and Embassy of France in Benin. Dr. Pèlèbè also won in 2019 the 3rd prize of “My thesis in 180 seconds competition” organized by the “Campus Numérique Francophone of Cotonou, Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie”. In addition, from 2013 to date, he has worked with several fish production units and national NGOs. Dr. Pèlèbè is a founder member of two non-profit organizations namely “Nature Ecologique” (ECO-NATURE NGO) and “Aquaculture et Protection des Zones Humides” (AProZH NGO). Dr. Pèlèbè has a strong commitment to making science a powerful development tool for the well-being of the people and the preservation of aquatic resources.
