Ms. Ivy Serwaa Gyimah Akuoko is an Assistant Research Fellow at the Centre for Coastal Management (the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience), University of Cape Coast. At the Centre, she is the Sectoral Liaison Officer. She is an environmental researcher and enthusiast who focuses on waste and its management, understanding human behaviour in relation to the environment, impacts of the environment on humans as well as the application of GIS and Remote Sensing in these areas. For the past years, she has been working on marine litter and plastic pollution.
Ivy graduated from the University of Cape Coast's Department of Environmental Science in 2014 and moved on to study Master of Arts in Marine Affairs in the University of Rhode Island, Department of Marine Affairs. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Environmental Science at the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies, University of Ghana, with a research focus on food waste behaviours, management and impacts.
